Buganda Province Head Coach Alex Isabirye has named the squad that will face Lango in the opening match of The FUFA Drum 2nd edition at Mukono Bishops Ground on Saturday 30th March 2019.

A 23-man squad involves the leading top scorers in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League. Police FC forward Juma Balinya (16 goals) and SC Villa’s Bashir Mutanda (13 goals) were summoned for the very first time as the defending champions prepare to begin title defense this weekend.

In the same vein, Vipers SC defender Halid Lwaliwa also had his first call up to the historical province.

However, Isabirye maintained atleast 95% of the players that were in his set-up during the 1st edition.

Nicolas Sebwato, Hannington Sebwalunyo and Joel Mutakubya all made their way back to the list as goalkeepers.

Skipper Dan Birikwalira, his Bright Stars FC teammate Enock Walusimbi, URA FC captain Shafic Kagimu, Ronald Kigongo, Said Kyeyune, Tooro United striker Allan Kayiwa and Baker Buyala, Brian Majwega from Maroons FC 1st edition MVP Vianne Sekajugo.

Veteran striker Robert Sentongo returned to the squad together with Kyetume FC teammate Musa Mugalu.

After releasing the squad, Isabirye asserted that the players he summoned have the experience in the tournament and will be capable of defending the title beginning from the first game against Lango.

I maintained most of the players I used last season. They have the experience in the tournament and will be capable of defending the title starting from the first game against Lango. Our strategy is to defend and retain this year’s title.’ Said Isabirye.
